AirSeal® Dynamic Pressure System (DPS)
AirSeal is a complete system, powered by revolutionary (DPS) technology that provides unobstructed access, remarkable visibility and monitors intra-abdominal pressure.
How it works
The AirSeal System utilizes the CO2 gas dispensed by an insufflator to create an invisible pressure barrier within the open lumen of an AirSeal® cannula. This “invisible” seal effectively creates a dynamic equilibrium separating the intra-abdominal gas from the ambient room air.
AirSeal System highlights
- SmokEvac removes smoke and plume as gas moves and is drawn into the re-circulating system, it will filter and be returned to the abdomen. This unfiltered gas does not escape into the room, but is maintained within the system; providing improved visibility.
- Allows multiple instruments to pass through a single cannula: Beyond traditional laparoscopy, multiple instruments can be passed through a single AirSeal® port without limitation. Proprietary sizes and shapes enable many procedures to be performed through a single port to maximize the benefits of minimally invasive surgery.
- Improved ergonomics- freedom of movement is critical during complicated long cases. AirSeal being an open dynamic system provides a more pliable abdominal wall especially needed while manipulating instruments in acute angles where drag and friction can work against you.
A paradigm shift for flexible endoscopic surgery
With AirSeal, instrumentation is no longer restricted to the working channels of the endoscope. A long, flexible AirSeal® overtube maintains an airtight seal and allows advanced endoscopic instruments, such as flexible staplers, to be used alongside 5mm endoscopes. Separating instrumentation from the optics is a critical step in realizing the potential of therapeutic endoscopic surgery and N.O.T.E.S.
